Junior Project Engineer

Location: Iuka, MS

Work Setting: Onsite

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM; Friday, 7:00 AM–11:00 AM

Pay: $27–$33/hour

About the Role

A growing industrial fabrication company is looking for a Junior Project Engineer to join its team in Iuka, MS.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in steel detailing, fabrication drawings, structural steel, industrial equipment or plant environments who wants to grow into a larger project engineering or project management role.

You will work closely with project management, detailing and quality control to make sure drawings are accurate and ready for fabrication.

What You’ll Do

• Review shop and erection drawings before they are released to fabrication.
• Check drawings against design specifications, RFIs and customer comments.
• Verify dimensions, materials, welds, bolts and other fabrication details.
• Identify and resolve drawing errors before they reach the shop.
• Review projects at various stages and support multiple active jobs.
• Work with outside detailers and internal project teams.
• Assist with drawing revisions and technical documentation.
• Gradually take on more complex drawings as your skills develop.
• Work closely with project coordination, detailing and quality control teams.

Projects can range from approximately $500K to $25M, with an average project around $3M.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of experience reviewing structural, fabrication or industrial drawings.
• Experience with structural steel, industrial fabrication, process equipment, pressure vessels, pipework or industrial plants.
• Ability to read and understand technical/fabrication drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Basic Microsoft Project experience.
• Comfortable learning new processes and taking on increasingly complex work.
• AutoCAD experience is a strong plus.
• Tekla PowerFab experience is a plus.
• A related technical or engineering degree is preferred but not required.

Training & Growth

You’ll receive significant hands-on training and shadowing before taking ownership of more complex drawing packages. Training may include time at another company location to gain deeper exposure to the fabrication and engineering process.

As you develop, there is potential to grow into Project Management, Procurement or broader project engineering responsibilities.
