Chemical Plant Manager – Resins & Coatings

Location: Sheboygan, WI (Relocation Assistance)

$150,000–$200,000 base DOE

We’re working with a growing specialty chemical manufacturer in the Sheboygan area looking for an experienced Chemical Plant Manager to take ownership of day-to-day manufacturing operations.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who brings a combination of chemical/formulation knowledge and hands-on manufacturing leadership. The ideal person may come from a Plant Manager/Operations background with strong chemical experience, or from a senior Chemist/Formulation/R&D background who has progressed into production and people leadership.

This is a smaller, hands-on operation, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys being close to the process rather than managing from an office. You’ll oversee the plant and team while remaining involved with formulations, quality, troubleshooting, suppliers and production.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead day-to-day chemical manufacturing and plant operations
  • Oversee a small production team, including training, development and accountability
  • Work hands-on with chemical formulations, raw materials and production processes
  • Own quality control and troubleshoot batch, formulation and manufacturing issues
  • Monitor formulations and make adjustments as products or raw materials change
  • Coordinate raw materials, suppliers, inventory and production needs
  • Help improve manufacturing processes, consistency, efficiency and quality
  • Support hiring and development as the operation continues to grow
  • Maintain accurate production/formulation information using Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Serve as the key operational leader for the facility and work closely with ownership

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, ideally 10+ years
  • Strong background in chemical formulation and manufacturing
  • Experience with resins, coatings, polymers, composites, adhesives or similar specialty chemicals strongly preferred
  • Previous experience leading manufacturing, production, operations or technical teams
  • Strong understanding of quality control, raw materials and production troubleshooting
  • Comfortable working directly with formulations and manufacturing processes — not just managing from a high level
  • Experience working with suppliers and resolving raw-material or production issues
  • Strong Excel/MS Office skills and comfortable working with formulas, ratios and production data
  • Practical, hands-on leadership style with the ability to wear multiple hats in a smaller operation

Why Consider It?

This isn't a large corporate environment where you're responsible for one small piece of the operation. You'll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact, work directly with leadership and take real ownership of the manufacturing operation.

The company is growing and looking for someone who can become a trusted long-term leader as the operation continues to expand.
