Glass Applications Account Specialist – Entry-Level / Trainee

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Schedule: 100% Onsite (no remote or hybrid) | 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 + discretionary performance bonus

Type: Full-Time

Are you creative, curious, and great with people?

If you’re the type of person who likes figuring out how things work, enjoys working directly with customers, and wants a career that combines creativity, technical problem-solving, and relationship building, this could be a great fit.

We’re partnering with a long-established Pittsburgh glass manufacturer that creates highly customized glass products for customers in aerospace & defense, lighting, energy, and other specialized industries.

This isn't a traditional sales job. There are no cold-call quotas and no expectation that you walk in knowing everything about glass. You'll be trained from the ground up and become the go-to resource for a group of established customers.

You’ll work with customers across:

  • ✈️ Aerospace & Defense
  • 💡 Signal & General Lighting
  • ⚡ Energy & Power Distribution
  • 🏥 Medical Equipment

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain relationships with a small group of established customer accounts
  • Serve as the primary point of contact from order entry through production and shipment
  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and requirements to understand what they need
  • Help customers determine the best way to approach their custom glass application
  • Work with Engineering and Sales to determine what can be manufactured and how
  • Discuss dimensions, measurements, pricing, molds, and other product requirements with customers
  • Coordinate custom orders and keep customers updated throughout the process
  • Answer technical questions and provide solutions when challenges arise
  • Learn the company's unique products, manufacturing processes, and capabilities
  • Eventually participate in occasional customer visits and industry trade shows

Every order is different. You'll constantly be learning how to take a customer's drawing, idea, or specification and turn it into a manufacturable product.

This Could Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Are early in your career and looking for a role where you can learn and grow
  • Have a naturally curious or creative mindset
  • Enjoy figuring out problems rather than simply following a script
  • Are comfortable talking with customers and building relationships
  • Have strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Can look at a drawing or technical specification and understand what you're looking at — or are eager to learn
  • Have experience in sales, account management, customer service, technical sales, equipment sales, manufacturing, engineering, or a related environment
  • Have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business or a related field
  • Are comfortable learning CRM/ERP systems

Glass experience is NOT required. We're much more interested in someone who is smart, personable, curious, detail-oriented, and hungry to learn.

Why This Role Is Different

You'll work for a small, established manufacturer where you can actually see what you're selling being made.

The sales team works closely with Operations and Engineering, and you can literally walk from the office to the manufacturing floor and watch the glass production process.

You'll have direct access to experienced people who have been with the company for years, including a Sales Manager with decades of experience who will personally help you learn the business.

There is also no one-size-fits-all sales scorecard. Your goals are developed around your individual strengths, development areas, and growth.

What You'll Get

  • $60,000-$70,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Discretionary performance-based bonus
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance
  • 401(k) with Match
  • PTO + sick time
  • 10 paid holidays
  • Extensive training and mentorship
  • Opportunity to grow into increased responsibility and potentially sales management
  • A stable, close-knit team with many long-tenured employees

The Opportunity

If you're looking for a career where you're not sitting behind a desk doing the same thing every day, this is worth a look.

You'll work with customers, learn a highly specialized product, solve problems, collaborate with Engineering, and see your work move from customer concept → custom design → manufactured glass product.
