Senior Designer (Interior Commercial Construction)
Our client is a well-established, founder-led interior architecture and design firm located in Boston’s Seaport/Innovation District. With more than 20 years in business and a strong reputation for commercial workplace design, the firm provides interior architecture, design, building services, branding, and 3D visualization for corporate, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use environments. The company has completed millions of square feet of commercial projects throughout the Boston market and is experiencing significant growth following a recent influx of new work. This is a collaborative, creative, and fast-paced environment where communication, positive attitude, design quality, and strong client relationships are highly valued. The firm offers a hybrid schedule of four days in the Boston office and Fridays working remotely.
About the Role
The Senior Designer will play a key role in leading the design process across multiple fast-moving commercial workplace projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing several projects and priorities simultaneously, contributing from early concepts through design development, and communicating effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead design development for assigned commercial interior architecture projects.
- Develop programming, space plans, test fits, concepts, finish palettes, and presentation materials.
- Produce and coordinate design documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Collaborate with MEP, lighting, AV, furniture, and other project consultants.
- Participate in client meetings and confidently present design concepts, drawings, and recommendations.
- Manage multiple active projects and priorities throughout the day in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, job captains, and other designers.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to mid-level and junior design team members.
- Help maintain design quality, project schedules, and client expectations throughout the design process.
- Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam as part of the design and documentation process.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial interior architecture/design experience
- Experience with workplace design, tenant fit-outs, and/or landlord repositioning projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and contribute to multiple live projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present drawings and design concepts to clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam.
- Ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of assigned projects and deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is preferred but not required.
