Greater Chicago Area (Based in Lisle, IL)

$85,000–$100,000 + Annual Bonus + Company Vehicle + 100% Employer-Paid Medical

Growing and looking for an experienced Construction Inspector to join our transportation team. We work on roadway, bridge, municipal, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout Northern Illinois, partnering with IDOT, municipalities, and public agencies to deliver quality infrastructure that keeps communities moving

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, working directly with contractors, and playing an important role in delivering major civil infrastructure projects

What You'll Do:

  • Inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and transportation construction projects
  • Verify work is being completed according to plans, specifications, and IDOT standards
  • Coordinate with contractors, Resident Engineers, project managers, and agency representatives
  • Document daily construction activities and maintain accurate project records
  • Measure completed quantities for contractor payment
  • Observe material testing and verify quality control documentation
  • Identify field issues and help resolve construction challenges as they arise
  • Spend the majority of your time in the field with limited office documentation

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of construction inspection experience (DOT, transportation, or heavy civil preferred)
  • Experience working on IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, or municipal roadway projects
  • Strong understanding of roadway, bridge, drainage, or utility construction
  • Comfortable communicating with contractors and project stakeholders
  • Strong documentation and computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to make sound decisions in the field

Nice to Have:

  • IDOT documentation software experience
  • CMMS, eBuilder, or similar construction management platforms
  • Illinois Tollway project experience
  • Resident Engineer experience
