About the Role

As Vice President of Transportation, you will serve as the organization's transportation subject matter expert, partnering closely with executive leadership and operational teams to improve efficiency, safety, compliance, fleet utilization, and service performance across multiple business units.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide transportation operations and fleet management strategy.
  • Develop transportation capacity plans that support business growth and customer demand.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, service, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish transportation goals, KPIs, and long-term operational strategies.
  • Serve as the primary transportation advisor to senior leadership.
  • Oversee approximately 200 transportation assets, including: 130+ power units & 70+ trailers
  • Direct fleet purchasing, leasing, rental agreements, and vendor negotiations.
  • Analyze transportation costs and fleet performance metrics to identify savings opportunities.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and transportation regulations.
  • Establish and maintain best practices related to transportation safety and risk management.
  • Lead initiatives that improve fleet safety performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Translate transportation policies into effective day-to-day operational execution.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of transportation, logistics, or fleet leadership experience within a private fleet
  • Experience managing transportation operations across multiple locations.
  • Strong fiscal management and budgeting experience.
  • 5+ years of people leadership and management experience.
  • Experience managing transportation operations involving 100+ power units.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading transportation teams, drivers, fleet personnel, and operational managers.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Required Skills

  • Experience within rendering, sanitation, agriculture, food production, industrial services, environmental services, wholesale distribution, or related industries.
  • College coursework or degree in Logistics, Transportation, Operations, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Demonstrated success implementing transportation policies and operational best practices.

Pay range and compensation package

  • Pay Rate: $150k - $165k/yr Base Salary + Performance Bonus + Relocation Assistance Available (Case-by-Case)
