Position Overview

The Human Resources Manager will oversee all aspects of Human Resources while helping the organization strengthen its people strategy, improve retention, create structure, and support a diverse workforce. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable developing HR strategy and rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day HR responsibilities. The workforce includes both professional staff and industrial/operations employees, requiring a leader who can successfully support individuals across multiple functions and work environments. The ideal candidate is mission-driven, adaptable, proactive, and energized by opportunities to create positive organizational change.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Leadership

  • Lead all HR functions including employee relations, recruiting, retention, benefits, compliance, and workforce planning
  • Build structure and consistency across HR programs and processes
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates
  • Partner with leadership to support organizational goals and growth initiatives
  • Create scalable HR systems and processes that support future expansion

Talent Acquisition & Retention

  • Develop recruiting strategies to attract high-quality talent
  • Improve employee retention through engagement and development initiatives
  • Support onboarding, orientation, and training programs
  • Assist leadership with succession planning and workforce development
  • Build programs that enhance employee satisfaction and morale

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters
  • Lead conflict resolution, investigations, corrective actions, and performance management discussions
  • Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture
  • Coach managers on employee issues and best HR practices
  • Support both office-based professionals and industrial workforce employees

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Manage leave administration, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and related programs
  • Oversee benefits administration and employee communications
  • Monitor HR metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Experience supporting organizational growth, restructuring, or change initiatives
  • Strong employee relations and conflict resolution experience
  • Experience creating and implementing HR policies and procedures
  • Proven ability to reduce turnover and improve employee engagement
  • Comfortable operating as a one-person HR department
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
