About the Opportunity:
We're partnering with a growing manufacturer of industrial packaging machinery seeking a Controls Engineer to support controls design, PLC programming, machine commissioning, and automation projects across both new and existing equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoy
s working directly with machinery, solving complex technical challenges, and seeing projects through from design to startup.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop control systems for industrial machinery
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, drives, and automation equipment
- Support machine startup, commissioning, FAT, and SAT activities
- Diagnose and resolve controls, electrical, software, and networking issues
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and customers
- Create and maintain electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Support upgrades and modernization of legacy equipment
- Integrate sensors, actuators, drives, and safety systems
Important Note:
Some hands-on Siemens experience is required; however, candidates do not need to be Siemens experts. Engineers with strong controls backgrounds in Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Beckhoff, or similar PLC platforms who have worked with Siemens systems are strongly encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of controls engineering, automation engineering, or PLC programming experience
- Experience programming PLCs and HMIs in an industrial environment
- Some hands-on Siemens experience
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Strong troubleshooting skills with automated machinery and industrial systems
- Experience with industrial networking and field devices
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Siemens TIA Portal experience
- Siemens S7-1200 or S7-1500 PLC experience
- Experience with Siemens HMIs, drives, or industrial networking
- Allen-Bradley / Rockwell experience
- Packaging machinery, OEM equipment, or manufacturing automation experience
- FAT, SAT, and commissioning experience
