Technical Business Development Manager

Location: Conover, NC (Candidates must live within 1 hour or be open to relocation)

Schedule: Hybrid

Compensation: $90,000–$120,000 Base Salary (DOE) + 20% Bonus

A rapidly growing manufacturer is seeking a Technical Business Development Representative to support continued expansion across the automotive, filtration, and industrial sectors. This is a strategic, growth-focused role offering strong visibility to executive leadership and the opportunity to make a direct impact on company growth initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine strong business development skills with the technical aptitude to understand manufacturing processes, material applications, and customer operations. Success in this role requires the ability to understand both the company's capabilities and customers' production processes, identify application opportunities, and build long-term partnerships. While an engineering degree is not required, applicable technical experience within manufacturing, industrial materials, filtration, automotive, nonwovens, chemicals, packaging, textiles, or related industries is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to generate new accounts and grow existing customer relationships
  • Identify opportunities for material and product applications within automotive, industrial, filtration, and related manufacturing markets
  • Build relationships with OEMs, distributors, suppliers, engineers, purchasing teams, and other key decision-makers
  • Understand customer manufacturing processes and identify opportunities where the company's products and capabilities can provide value
  • Manage and maintain a strong sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, and customer engagement
  • Partner closely with leadership and internal teams to support company growth objectives and strategic initiatives
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities
  • Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and technical discussions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by providing application knowledge and consultative support throughout the sales process

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of business development/sales, application engineering or related experience within technical manufacturing or industrial markets
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business opportunities and grow customer relationships
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Technical aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing processes, product applications, and customer requirements
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Engineering degree not required; relevant technical and industry experience is strongly valued
