SUPERINTENDENT – WATER/WASTEWATER CONSTRUCTION
Location: Onsite; all projects within 50miles of Richmond, VA
Salary: $100,000–$150,000+ base DOE
Bonus: Performance-based profit sharing
A growing specialty construction and mechanical contracting company is seeking a Superintendent to oversee water and wastewater construction projects throughout Virginia and surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a field-focused construction leader who enjoys managing crews, driving projects forward, and making a direct impact on project success.
Responsibilities
• Oversee daily field operations on water and wastewater construction projects
• Coordinate subcontractors, field crews, vendors, and equipment onsite
• Manage installation of underground utilities, process piping, pumps, lift stations, and treatment equipment
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to specifications
• Conduct site walks to monitor productivity, quality, and safety compliance
• Lead toolbox talks and enforce OSHA and company safety standards
• Coordinate inspections with municipalities, engineers, and regulatory agencies
• Track manpower, equipment utilization, and daily production progress
• Review drawings and resolve field conflicts or constructability issues
• Collaborate with Project Managers on schedules, RFIs, change orders, and project updates
• Maintain project documentation including reports, photos, and field logs
• Assist with project closeout, startup, punch list, and turnover activities
Qualifications
• Superintendent-level construction experience
• Strong field leadership background with hands-on construction knowledge
• Experience managing crews, subcontractors, and jobsite operations
• Mechanical construction experience preferred
• Experience with process piping, industrial mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC, or utility installations strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management software
• Ability to read plans, coordinate multiple trades, and solve field issues effectively
