Hours: Hybrid Schedule (3 days in office) 8-5 Monday-Friday

Our operations support major automotive, marketing, and event-based clients who require reliable transportation for high-visibility equipment and mobile experiences.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking to add an experienced Backhaul Freight Broker / Logistics Coordinator to help maximize equipment utilization, reduce deadhead miles, and improve revenue per mile by securing strategic backhaul freight returning to our home base in Romulus, MI.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who understands “one-off” and time-sensitive freight, thrives in fast-paced logistics environments, and can build a profitable backhaul strategy from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and secure profitable backhaul freight for specialty trucks returning from shows, auctions, and events
- Minimize deadhead miles and improve overall revenue per mile
- Build and maintain relationships with freight brokers, shippers, carriers, and 3PL providers
- Negotiate rates and manage freight opportunities across multiple load boards
- Enter and manage loads within the TMS system
- Monitor freight profitability, margins, and operational KPIs
- Coordinate with dispatch and operations teams to ensure efficient routing and execution
- Handle delays, service issues, and real-time problem solving
- Identify opportunities to develop and expand our brokerage capabilities

Qualifications
Must-Haves
- 2+ years of freight brokerage, dispatch, or logistics experience
- Established knowledge of freight markets and independent decision-making ability
- Experience using load boards such as DAT and Truckstop
- Strong understanding of backhaul freight and route optimization
- Experience with TMS platforms including McLeod, Tailwind, or similar systems
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with specialty freight, event logistics, automotive transportation, or time-sensitive shipments
- Existing broker, shipper, or 3PL relationships
- Understanding of margin management and freight profitability analysis
