Project Accountant - Construction

A rapidly growing, private equity-backed organization in the construction space is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team during a period of expansion and transformation. Over the past 10 months, the company has successfully acquired 15 businesses, creating a dynamic, fast-evolving environment with significant opportunity for the right individual. This is not a “steady-state” accounting role — it is for someone who thrives in change, ambiguity, and building structure where it doesn’t yet exist.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own and validate job cost data across 25–30 active projects
  • Analyze estimated vs. actual costs (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors)
  • Investigate and resolve cost discrepancies directly with field teams
  • Partner closely with foremen and operations leaders to ensure accuracy
  • Provide real-time insights into job profitability and performance
  • Support leadership with actionable data in a high-volume project environment
  • Work within ERP systems to maintain clean, reliable financial data

What This Role Requires:

  • Experience in construction accounting / job costing
  • Exposure to multiple concurrent projects (ideally up to $30M in total scope)
  • Strong communication skills — ability to work directly with field personnel/foremen
  • Comfort operating in a fast-changing, evolving environment
  • Ability to challenge data, ask questions, and dig for answers
  • Adaptability — processes, systems, and structure are still being built

Who Will Succeed Here:

  • Someone who is comfortable with change
  • Not afraid to operate in gray areas vs. perfect structure
  • Proactive, communicative, and willing to pick up the phone
  • Able to balance operational understanding with accounting discipline
  • Looking for growth and long-term opportunity within a scaling organization

Benefits & Perks:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company contribution
  • Paid time off + holidays
  • Stable, full-time schedule with seasonal flexibility
  • Opportunity to grow within a rapidly expanding organization
  • Direct exposure to leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Long-term career path as the company continues to scale through acquisition

We look forward to reviewing your resume!
