📍 Granby, MA (Onsite → 1 day WFH after ramp-up)

💼 Full-Time | 💰 $125K–$145K + up to 10% discretionary bonus

An employee-owned, growing construction company in Granby, MA is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations and serve as a strategic partner to leadership. This is a high-impact role where you’ll drive financial visibility, strengthen processes, and help guide business decisions in a collaborative, hands-on environment. You’ll lead a team of 4 and report directly to the CFO.

🧭 What You’ll Do

  • Lead all accounting and financial operations, ensuring GAAP compliance and timely, accurate reporting
  • Oversee job cost accounting, billing, AP/AR, general ledger, and financial statements
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and monitor financial performance across projects
  • Build and track dashboards to provide insight into key business metrics
  • Partner closely with Operations on project budgets, cost-to-complete projections, and performance analysis
  • Review financing activities, identify risks, and ensure proper approvals and compliance
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • Oversee AP/AR processes, including subcontractor/vendor compliance and receivables tracking
  • Review weekly payroll for accuracy (no processing required)
  • Lead and develop the accounting team (4 direct reports) through coaching and mentorship
  • Manage reconciliations, petty cash, and day-to-day accounting operations
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership in weekly meetings and support EOS processes
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax partners, and support audits and filings
  • Assist with prequalification filings, insurance, bonding, and tax-related activities
  • Partner with the President and CFO on budgeting and strategic initiatives

✅ What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Construction industry experience required (job costing expertise is key)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with Sage 300 required
  • Proven ability to communicate financial insights to non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, team-oriented approach
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Alignment with core values: integrity, determination, and accountability

  • CPA or CMA
  • Experience with accounting system implementations or migrations
