Audit Manager > Internal Controller – Construction Management (Midtown Manhattan, NYC)

Location: Midtown Manhattan, New York, NY

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000/year + Bonus + ESOP Profit Sharing (8–12%)

Schedule: Onsite | Flexible start time between 7:00–9:00 AM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in Midtown Manhattan. This position is open due to an internal promotion, as the current Controller has recently stepped into the CFO role.

This is a high-impact leadership role focused on overseeing construction financials, with a strong emphasis on audit and financial oversight. The ideal candidate will bring a solid audit background and experience managing accounting teams in a project-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review month-end close processes
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 6+ project accountants
  • Manage construction financial reporting and forecasting
  • Utilize Sage 300 for accounting, reporting, and financial analysis
  • Ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions

Qualifications

  • Strong background in audit (public accounting preferred)
  • Experience in construction or project-based accounting
  • Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams
  • Proficiency with Sage 300 or similar ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
