Audit Manager / Controller

💰 $160,000–$180,000 base + bonus potential

Our employee-owned construction client in New York City is seeking an experienced Audit Manager/ Controller to lead accounting operations and support executive leadership in a dynamic, project-driven environment. 🔎 Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and support Project Accountants — removing roadblocks and ensuring projects stay financially on track
• Monitor and manage company cash flow and banking relationships
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
• Lead month-end close process (targeting close by the 10th business day)
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial reporting to corporate leadership
• Coordinate financial statement preparation and external audit process
• Provide analytics around job schedules, project performance, and financial trends
• Partner directly with the CFO on reporting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
• Step in wherever needed to support accounting and finance operations

💻 Systems & Tools

• Currently using Sage 300 CRE
• Evaluating transition to Vista or CMiC
• ERP experience strongly preferred (especially Vista or CMiC)

✅ Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 10 years of accounting and finance roles, 3+ in leadership roles
• Construction industry experience (any exposure strongly considered)
• MUST have Public accounting audit experience (middle-market or smaller firms preferred; Big 4 not required)
• Senior-level exposure to financial analytics and job cost/schedule reporting
• Must have longevity in current and prior positions
• Strong ERP experience
• Assistant Controller ready to step into a Controller role will be considered
