Senior Electronic Technician
Location: Irvine, CA (100% Onsite)
A well-established aerospace and defense electronics manufacturer is seeking a Senior Electronic Technician to join their growing production team in Irvine, CA. This role is responsible for building, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting ruggedized electronic systems used in critical defense and aerospace programs.
Position Overview
The Senior Electronic Technician will be responsible for hands-on assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electronic systems in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong schematic reading ability, excellent soldering skills, and experience using standard electronic test equipment.
Compensation
- $30 – $38 per hour
- Overtime opportunities available
Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, and test ruggedized electronic systems including cameras, recorders, and display units
- Read and interpret electronic schematics, assembly drawings, and technical work instructions
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems down to the component level
- Utilize test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, digital voltage meters, and soldering stations
- Perform PCB-level rework and hand soldering under a microscope
- Support production of high-mix, low-volume programs (typically 5–100 units per run)
- Accurately document work performed and maintain quality standards
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of experience as an Electronic Technician in a manufacturing environment
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field required
- Strong experience reading and interpreting electronic schematics and assembly drawings
- Hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience at the component level
- Proficiency using electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, and soldering tools
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such as aerospace, defense, or medical
- Strong hand soldering skills and experience performing PCB rework
- Must be able to pass a Soldering test
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense electronics manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with AS-9100 or ISO-9001 environments
- IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certifications
- Experience working with ruggedized or military-spec electronics
Work Environment
This role operates in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to work on a variety of electronic systems. Approximately 85% of the role focuses on assembly and testing of new products, with 15% involving repair work.
