Director/Controller – Construction Finance

Location: New York, NY (Midtown Manhattan – IN OFFICE ONLY)

Pay Rate: $150,000–$180,000 yr+ Bonus

Overview:

Join a nationally respected construction management firm with a 70+ year history delivering projects in commercial, healthcare, academic, life sciences, and historic restoration. As Direct of Accounting/Controller, you’ll lead GL accuracy, cash flow, month‑end close, reporting, and mentor project accountants. You’ll collaborate across finance, project teams, and operations, acting as both a tactical and strategic partner to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead month‑end close and ensure reliable financials

• Prepare statements and support external audits

• Supervise and mentor 6+ project accountants

• Partner with accounting, payroll, HR, and project teams to resolve issues

• Improve processes, reporting, and analytics

• Use ERP tools (Sage 300 CRE now; evaluating Vista/CMIC) for forecasting and clarity

Compensation & Perks:

• Base: $150,000–$180,000/yr+ bonus

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance
• Construction accounting experience
• Public Audit Experience (mid sector or small preferred)
• Stable work history
• Strong GL, financial reporting, and month-end close skills
• ERP proficiency (Sage 300 CRE preferred; Vista/CMIC a plus)
• Analytics, job costing, and schedule exposure
