HR Operations Specialist
On-site – New York City, NY (Financial District)
$85,000 – $95,000 per year
Position Overview
Seeking a responsible, highly organized, and service-minded HR Operations Specialist to own and manage HR operations for approximately 60 employees across the U.S. and Canada. This is a standalone HR role supporting a fast-growing technology organization, requiring a professional who can work independently, prioritize effectively, and serve as the primary HR resource for the company.
This role will report to the Director of Finance and partner closely with the finance team while acting as the face of HR for employees in both New York and Toronto. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, an excellent communicator, and comfortable managing both day-to-day HR administration and longer-term initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, changes, and offboarding
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and documentation
- Administer HRIS (Rippling or similar platform) and ensure data integrity
- Serve as first point of contact for HR-related questions and employee support
- Support benefits administration and act as liaison with benefits broker
- Assist with terminations and related documentation
- Draft HR communications, handbooks, and all-staff correspondence
- Provide HR support for both U.S. and Canadian employees
- Support NYC office operations: liaison with building management, meeting coordination, and office environment oversight
- Manage computer and equipment inventory; coordinate shipping to new hires
- Participate in required HR training (including HIPAA-related compliance)
- Improve HR processes, ensure compliance with employment standards, and help build the HR function as the company grows
Qualifications
- 3+ years of HR operations or HR administration experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience using an HRIS system (Rippling preferred, any HRIS acceptable)
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the HR function
