Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts across a variety of construction projects. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing bid documentation, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and supporting the full estimating lifecycle from pre-bid through project handoff. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and experience working with construction drawings, specifications, and estimating software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates, bid packages, and supporting documentation for construction projects
  • Review plans and specifications to develop accurate scopes of work and identify potential risks or gaps
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, material pricing, labor estimates, and general condition cost analysis
  • Develop and manage Schedule of Values (SOV) and bid breakdowns
  • Coordinate subcontractor and vendor bid solicitation, RFQs, and addenda distribution
  • Analyze subcontractor quotes for accuracy, scope alignment, and competitiveness
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site walks; document site conditions and constructability concerns
  • Track bid progress and communicate status updates to the Director of Project Controls
  • Assist with bid leveling, proposal preparation, and bid submission
  • Support project handoff meetings and collaborate with project management teams after award
  • Maintain organized estimate files, takeoffs, and historical cost data
  • Participate in estimating department meetings and continuous process improvement efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent construction experience
  • 5+ years of estimating experience (7–10 years for senior-level consideration)
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, design documents, cost controls, and financial principles
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
  • Working knowledge of procurement processes and basic contract law
  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, OST, PlanSwift, Sage, HCSS, or WinEst
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
