Vice President of Preconstruction

Athens / Watkinsville, GA – Just outside Atlanta

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary $200,000–$250,000 plus performance bonus 20–30% tied to team and project success
• Standard 8:00am–5:00pm Monday–Friday onsite with rare travel for business development

Your Impact

• Own and lead the full pre-construction function: estimating, budgeting, scheduling, bid strategy, and risk analysis
• Drive high-level strategy while mentoring a team of senior and junior estimators to deliver consistent, competitive, and scalable results
• Approve and refine complex bids, GMPs, and cost models with sharp focus on margins, constructability, and value engineering
• Partner with operations, project executives, and leadership to optimize project handoffs and support growth initiatives
• Build standardized processes, templates, and controls that scale with company growth
• Cultivate lasting relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and key partners to maximize cost competitiveness
• Support business development with pre-award strategy, client presentations, and go/no-go pursuit decisions

What We’re Looking For

• 15–20+ years of heavy civil construction pre-construction leadership experience
• Proven ability to influence cost strategy and bidding outcomes in competitive markets
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and Hagtec preferred
• Ethical and values-based, family-oriented leader
• Strategic thinker who thrives balancing vision with hands-on involvement
