Our client, a well-established construction company in Lodi, NJ, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist for a full-time, onsite position. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal automation, ideal for someone who thrives in manual processes and enjoys problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process new vendor invoices and obtain necessary approvals.
- Perform 3-way matches (invoice, delivery ticket, purchase input).
- Post reconciled invoices accurately for payment.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in invoices, tickets, or purchasing records.
- Communicate with project managers and purchasing agents to obtain missing or corrected info.
- Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding issues.
- Review reports to identify and address inconsistencies.
- Handle ~2,000 monthly transactions, ranging from large vendors to small field ticket items.
- Support the transition to a new AP system next year; adapt to current manual processes.
- Cross-train on payroll and collaborate with other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of AP experience, preferably in construction or similar industries.
- Proven ability to manage high-volume, manual AP workflows.
- Tech-savvy and adaptable to new systems; experience with Foundation (accounting) and Ignite (document management) is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail — must catch errors and double-check work.
- Strong communication and follow-up skills.
