Senior Commercial Property Accountant

A well-established and growing commercial real estate firm with over $40 million in managed assets, is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Property Accountant to join their dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in commercial property accounting, a hands-on approach to full-cycle accounting, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. This individual will be assigned a portfolio of 3–5 commercial properties, depending on experience and capacity.

This is an opportunity for a confident and technically strong accountant who thrives on autonomy, accuracy, and accountability — and who’s ready to take the next step in their career with a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger entries, and month-end close for assigned properties.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, rent rolls, bank reconciliations, and CAM reconciliations.
  • Manage and analyze property-level budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
  • Conduct variance analyses and provide financial insight to the Controller and property management team.
  • Assist with audit preparation and ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with property managers and operations to ensure accuracy in reporting.
  • Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive property accounting experience, specifically within commercial real estate or commercial property management.
  • Strong working knowledge of CAM reconciliations, rent rolls, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with MRI or Yardi preferred.
  • Thick-skinned and confident communicator — able to collaborate effectively with direct, fast-paced leadership.

Benefits:

  • Monday through Thursday onsite, Fridays remote.
  • Health Insurance: PPO/HMO options (eligible after 90 days), dental and vision.
  • 401(k): Eligible after 1 year, with company match.
  • Generous PTO and all standard paid holidays off.

I look forward to hearing from you!
