About Us

Our mission is to make healthcare reimbursement transparent and fair (/phare), so providers can spend more time caring for patients and less time haggling over costs. We specifically focus on the most complex AI challenges that require novel R&D, with a team that blends AI researchers and engineers with clinicians, and payment experts. Backed by top healthcare investors including General Catalyst, we’re scaling quickly - join us!

The Role

This is a senior Product Engineering role within a tight-knit, mission-driven team. You will own end-to-end features that translate our AI engine into delightful user experiences. You’ll work across the stack, leaning toward backend systems but touching the UI when it counts. Expect to:

  • Shape the data layer - define schemas, indexes, and migrations in Postgres (with Prisma) so queries stay fast as data grows.
  • Build dependable services - write Node/TypeScript APIs that serve both ML pipelines and React clients.
  • Connect the front end - hook those APIs into clear, accessible React screens and refine our design system when needed.
  • Bring AI features to users - publish model outputs with plain-language explanations and add monitoring to keep them trustworthy.
  • Ensure security and compliance - meet HIPAA and SOC 2 requirements while keeping CI/CD and IaC workflows straightforward.
  • Mentor teammates and guide technical direction as Phare grows.

Who We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years building production web apps with a Node.js + TypeScript backend and React front end.
  • Strong PostgreSQL skills-schema design, indexing, query tuning-and hands-on with Prisma (or similar ORM).
  • Comfortable designing RESTful APIs and writing tests that run in CI/CD.
  • Product mindset: you own performance, usability, and accessibility from idea to ship.

Bonus points

  • Serverless or edge deployments (AWS Lambda, Vercel, Netlify) and Terraform for IaC.
  • Experience with design systems (MUI or similar) and modern a11y standards.
  • Observability tooling (eg Sentry) and auth flows.
  • Background in healthcare, fintech, or other data-heavy, regulated domains.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: Top-of-market salary plus equity.
  • Flexible PTO: Generous vacation policy and remote-friendly culture.
  • Team culture: Regular team-building events, a collaborative atmosphere, and mission-driven work.
