The Role

As a backend software engineer on our fast-moving team, you’ll help build and scale the systems that power our data-intensive healthcare platform. You’ll focus on the performance and reliability of backend services and data workflows that move and transform high volumes of healthcare data. This role emphasizes backend engineering fundamentals, supporting scalable data pipelines, and working cross-functionally with infrastructure and data teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Systems Development: Design, build, and maintain backend services that support high-throughput healthcare data operations.
• Data Pipeline Support: Work closely with data engineers to optimize ETL pipelines and ensure robust data flow across systems (e.g., Airflow or similar orchestration tools).
• Infrastructure & Deployment: Contribute to secure, scalable deployment using AWS (or similar cloud platforms), Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Observability & Reliability: Improve system monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics for production services.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with data, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure technical solutions meet business needs.

About You

Technical Expertise

• 5+ years of experience in backend or systems development.
• Proficiency in any modern backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Rust, etc.). Experience with Python and/or Go is a plus, not a requirement.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers (Docker), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
• Familiarity with SQL and modern data tooling (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Kafka, etc.).
• Bonus: Exposure to healthcare data systems or standards like FHIR/HL7 is appreciated.
