In this role, you will have two main objectives. First, to lead the company front-end strategy and second, to be a member of the Giving Team where you'll play a crucial role in helping us expand the product for our global partners. You will be part of an autonomous, cross-functional product team able to make its own decisions based on business objectives.

As Lead Front-End Software Engineer and part of the Giving Team, your mission will be to:
  • Shape the strategy for our entire Front end offering including dashboards, hosted forms, marketing sites, giving products, and design system
  • Care deeply about our product and help us evolve to be the number 1 purpose provider globally
  • Work closely with engineering management and the front-end engineering team to deliver a comprehensive front-end strategy
  • Help the Giving Team deliver our front-end work efficiently for our partners
After 3 months, success will look like:
  • You will have started to build strong relationships within the company and especially within the product team and management to allow you to excel at your role
  • You will have built a technical strategy for our front-end product suite to enable us to reliably scale our offerings in a performant manner
  • You will understand the Giving Domain and contribute your ideas to the product
  • You will have found the free sock merch in the office
For this role, we are especially looking for:
  • An excellent communicator and negotiator; you will be required to bring together and get agreement from stakeholders from different domains of the business and at varying levels of seniority
  • Strong knowledge of and enthusiasm for front-end architectures; we have lots of products, need to enable our engineers to deliver at high velocity, and need an expert to help guide our strategy in line with our overarching principles of autonomy enabled by a pragmatic approach rooted in domain driven design
  • Proactive leadership driving teams forward, eliminating inertia and bureaucracy; we have important work to progress and we have no time to stand still 🏎️
    This role is a perfect match for you, if you have substantial experience with:
    • 6+ years experience working with front-end projects
    • React.js and TypeScript
    • Front-end performance optimisation and testing methodologies
    • Working on a large or complex production codebase developing secure, scalable, resilient systems.
    • Being product focused
    • Responsive web design
    • Written documentation to make proposals to different stakeholders
    • Balancing empathy for customer needs with a visionary perspective that goes beyond simply delivering a faster horse (inspired by a Stripe job description we like and agree with 😉)
    • Integrating with external services
    • Monitoring systems and continuous integration
    • Mentoring more junior engineers
    Bonus points, but not required, if you have knowledge or love of:
    • Working in a startup environment (we value your ability to deal with and adapt to fast-paced decision-making, change and the need to deliver at scale and speed)
    • Micro front-end experience
    • Domain-Driven Development
    • Tea drinking 🫖
