Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Staff Accountant to support our day-to-day accounting operations and monthly close process. This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional who is comfortable working hands-on with journal entries, reconciliations, and operational accounting tasks while learning the technical and regulatory aspects of accounting within the clinical research and life sciences ecosystem.

The Staff Accountant will report to the VP, Financial Operations and play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial records, timely close cycles, and strong accounting fundamentals as Paradigm continues to grow.

What You’ll Do

Core Accounting Operations

  • Prepare and post journal entries for routine and recurring transactions
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely
  • Perform monthly balance-sheet and bank reconciliations
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor bill processing, invoicing, and cash application
  • Assist with payroll accounting and related reconciliations

Month-End Close and Audit Support

  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations for monthly close
  • Ensure close documentation is complete and audit-ready
  • Assist with responses to auditor requests and PBC (provided-by-client) lists

Revenue & Contract Support (ASC 606)

  • Assist with revenue recognition activities under ASC 606, including:
    • Reviewing contracts for accounting data inputs
    • Supporting revenue schedules and deferred revenue tracking
    • Preparing journal entries related to revenue and contract assets/liabilities
  • Maintain revenue support schedules and documentation

Audit, Tax & Compliance Support

  • Prepare schedules and documentation to support external audits
  • Assist with responses to auditor requests and PBC (provided-by-client) lists
  • Support domestic and international tax filings by preparing supporting schedules
  • Help maintain internal control documentation and compliance support files

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Enter and maintain accounting data within NetSuite or other ERP systems
  • Assist with process documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and data accuracy
  • Support system upgrades, integrations, and reporting improvements

Who You Are

  • 3–5+ years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Prior experience within clinical research, life sciences (CRO, biotech, pharma, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience using NetSuite or a comparable ERP system
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP fundamentals
  • Basic familiarity with ASC 606 and revenue recognition concepts
  • Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Progress toward CPA or CPA-eligibility

The base compensation range is $120,000- $150,000 USD per year. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and location.
