Big delivery companies have had it their way for too long. They leave parcels where they shouldn’t, they don’t deliver on time, and sometimes they just don’t deliver at all. It’s painful not just for the consumer, but for the merchants too. Lost parcels/breakages cost merchants a lot of money and they risk losing their customers forever.

We’re on a mission to change that. We’re rebuilding the delivery service from the ground up, using our own tech and electric vehicles to fundamentally change the way things work. We’re building the best deliveries on earth 🌎

We’re backed by incredible investors like Creandum and General Catalyst, have an exceptionally high Trustpilot score and landed a spot in the Startups 100 list (again!).

Internally, we’re hyper-focused on our unit economics as we’re building a fast growing, yet financially sustainable, company. We’re data rich so we can make fast, informed decisions to move us in the right direction. What helps our unit economics today might hurt them tomorrow, and so we never get complacent. Finance plays a huge part in all this and we’re searching for a Finance Manager to help us in that quest.

The core of this role is to run our day to day finance function which culminates in our monthly management accounts and unit economics reporting. It includes accounting operations like accounts payable and accounts receivable, along with running our weekly payroll in tandem with our People team. You’ll also get to participate in exciting ad hoc projects that help cement our long term future and give you amazing experience that you might not get anywhere else.

We’re a small but nimble finance team so you’ll get to see all parts of the business - from paying our drivers right through to our long term financial plans. You’ll also get lots of input in how we shape the team going forward.

Are you ready to build the best deliveries on earth?

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Run day to day accounting operations (we use a range of tools like Xero, Pleo, Dext, etc.)
  • Manage our central finance inbox with grace (this is where finance interacts with the world!)
  • Respond to internal finance queries from start to finish
  • Process our weekly payroll run
  • Pay suppliers on a weekly basis
  • Run the sales invoice process
  • Produce management accounts and own the balance sheet reconciliations/P&L classifications
  • Produce and input into our regular unit economics reports/analysis
  • Run the credit control process

This is a general guide, but we’re a startup so you could get involved in all kinds of projects 💥

💰 Finance at Packfleet

We’re a small team, consisting of a Head of Finance and external accounting firm. We’re currently seconding a Finance Manager from our accounting firm, so you’ll be coming in to take over and build on that role.

Because you’ll be owning the day to day accounting operations, you’re free to change our setup for the better in whatever way you see fit. Currently, the main tools we’re using are Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax, Pleo, Revolut, EmploymentHero and Crezco.

Month end is an important yardstick for our progress against goals, so we try to do it as quickly as possible. We’re built in a way that means we can get highly accurate management accounts within 2-3 days of the month end, which leads into our budget v actual conversations a few days later. They're super important for keeping us on track!

We’ve got huge ambitions as a company so you’ll be joining at a great time. We’ll support you in levelling up your career to make sure you don’t just have fun, but also learn some amazing skills and get to see all parts of the business along the way.

🏡 Logistics (pun intended 🫢)

This is a hybrid role. Our office/depot is based in Bermondsey, London where we aim to spend at least 1-2 days/week together. Being in the office/depot is great for keeping us close to the day to day physical operations, so we get to see on a granular level how Packfleet operates.

💌 How to apply

💛 Our commitment to diversity

We care deeply about creating a diverse team so we particularly encourage applications from people from different underrepresented demographics and encourage you, regardless of your background and past experience, to apply if the role excites you.

If we want to solve problems for people across the UK (and one day around the world), our team has to represent those we’re solving them for. So we need to attract the best talent and create an environment that supports and includes them.
