About the Job

We’re looking for a Supply Chain Buyer to join our Supply Management team. As a Buyer, you’ll ensure that teams have what they need to process cells and run experiments. You’ll coordinate with the production, manufacturing, and research groups to find primary and back-up suppliers for necessary materials, place orders, and follow up when delays or issues arise. In addition, you’ll help with inventory tracking and management, and work within our ERP system to make sure necessary items are always available. You’ll also use your deep understanding of Ossium’s supplies to step in as needed to help with material intake, warehouse organization, and kitting as needed.

A smooth supply chain is the backbone of a successful production facility, and your work will help to lay the foundation for production and research success. You’ll report to the Manager, Supply Chain, and will collaborate cross functionally with our Facilities, Product, Quality, Development, and Research teams.

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown and comfort working closely with suppliers
  • 2+ years of experience working in a warehouse or logistics setting
  • 1+ year in a procurement role
  • Familiarity with inventory management and ERP software
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work autonomously in a dynamic startup environment
  • This position is based full-time on site in our Indianapolis facility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience in a GMP warehouse or inventory setting
  • Experience in pharma/biotech
  • Experience with Netsuite

Key Responsibilities

  • Track inventory levels and place orders
  • Research and evaluate potential sources of supply
  • Identify suppliers for new and existing materials
  • Work with Quality to create Material Masters for new materials and gain approval for new suppliers
  • Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders
  • Track orders, proactively follow up with suppliers, and find alternatives if delays or
  • backorders occur
  • Track and report backorders
  • Facilitate material returns for credit or replacement and resolve invoice discrepancies

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environment
  • Must be able to work around biohazardous materials and chemicals
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with arms
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 40 lbs

In your first six months some projects you’ll work on include:

  • Finding additional suppliers for several critical materials used in Ossium’s core product
  • Collaborating with the Development team to source and purchasing items for new products
  • Streamlining quarterly inventory count process
  • Negotiating supply agreements with major suppliers
