About the role:

The HR Governance Senior Specialist is responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of employee policies, procedures and documentation. This role provides administrative support for HR and health & safety compliance efforts, collaborates on geographical expansion preparation, and helps maintain legal and regulatory adherence.

You will report into the Senior Manager, HR Governance.

Work Location: This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency: The pay for this role is: $36.23 - $47.55 per hour. You are also eligible for employee benefits and monthly vacation accrual at a rate of 15 days per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support for the development, documentation, implementation, and periodic review of employee policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational objectives and legal requirements.
  • Monitor and help maintain compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations, staying informed of changes and assisting with updates to policies, practices, and guidance as needed.
  • Manage and support Visa and Immigration programs, including coordination with external vendors, tracking key dates and documentation, and ensuring adherence to applicable immigration regulations and company processes.
  • Support HR compliance efforts by assisting with internal audits, responding to documentation requests, and maintaining organized and accurate records
  • Identify and suggest areas for process improvements within HR Governance tasks
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within HR governance activities and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Assist with various HR projects as assigned, including collecting, analyzing, compiling data, and preparing reports
  • Partner with internal teams and the business to answer policy and compliance questions
  • Partner with internal teams and business stakeholders to respond to questions related to policies, procedures, and compliance, providing clear guidance and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience in HR and corporate governance and compliance
  • 1+ years of knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies (i.e. HR compliance, EEOC requirements, OSHA, STD/FMLA, Reasonable Accommodation, FLSA/wage and hour laws, etc.)

Bonus points:

  • Workday or other HRIS experience
  • Visa and Immigration experience
  • Health and safety experience
  • Experience in tech or startup environments.
