Position description:
We are looking for an experienced and driven Lab Manager to lead our laboratory operations in Bangalore North. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day laboratory activities, ensure operational excellence, maintain the highest quality standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate diagnostics, exceptional service delivery, regulatory compliance, and team development while contributing directly to our mission of transforming healthcare.
Primary Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations & Process Management
- Oversee and coordinate daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient workflow and optimal resource utilization.
- Collaborate closely with medical, technical, and operations teams to ensure seamless sample processing, accurate testing, and timely reporting of results.
- Monitor laboratory performance metrics, including turnaround time (TAT), productivity, and quality indicators.
Quality & Compliance
- Drive quality assurance and quality control initiatives to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency of test results.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs and lead corrective and preventive actions when required.
- Ensure adherence to NABL standards, regulatory requirements, accreditation guidelines, and laboratory safety protocols.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and accreditation assessments.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Manage inventory levels of laboratory consumables, reagents, and equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration schedules for laboratory instruments.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop laboratory staff to foster a high-performance and collaborative work environment.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and competency development of team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure accurate maintenance of laboratory records, reports, and documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Contribute to contingency planning and emergency response readiness to ensure business continuity.
Additional Responsibilities:
- DMLT, B.Sc. MLT, BMLT, B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science, or an equivalent qualification in Allied Health Sciences. A Master's degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory, including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role, with hands-on experience managing laboratory operations, workflows, and team performance.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, quality assurance, quality control, NABL standards, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and laboratory safety practices.
- Experience managing laboratory resources, including inventory, consumables, reagents, equipment maintenance, documentation, and quality systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Ability to monitor and improve key performance indicators such as Turnaround Time (TAT), quality metrics, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to mentor teams and drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accuracy and quality in a fast-paced, high-volume diagnostic laboratory environment.
