The Product team is looking for a Senior Data Analyst who will play a critical role in driving the growth of our personal loans business and product strategy.
As a Senior Data Analyst specializing in Data Cataloguing and Platform, you will play a crucial role in organizing, analyzing, and optimizing our data infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will include building and maintaining a comprehensive data catalog, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance our data platform capabilities. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of data governance principles.
In this role, you will leverage multiple data sources, develop a deep understanding of our various products, and practice analytical rigour in making product feature recommendations that will ultimately improve customer experience & conversion within the acquisition funnel while controlling for risk & fraud. The right candidate for this role will demonstrate a high level of curiosity, a fierce dedication to accuracy & excellence, and a strong knack for solving complex problems with innovative & simple solutions that challenge the status quo. Key Responsibilities:

Reporting: Create and maintain detailed reports and dashboards to track product performance and KPIs.

Data Cataloguing:

  • Develop and maintain a centralized data catalog that includes metadata, lineage, and data dictionaries.
  • Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to ensure accurate and up-to-date information in the data catalog.
  • Implement and enforce data cataloguing best practices and standards.

Data Platform Management:

  • Work closely with the Data Engineering team to optimize and streamline data platform architecture.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance data storage, processing, and retrieval efficiency.
  • Provide support in the integration of new data sources and technologies into the existing data platform.

Data Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and implement data quality checks and validation processes.
  • Monitor data quality issues and work with relevant teams to address and resolve discrepancies.
  • Create and maintain documentation outlining data quality standards and procedures.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, business analysts, and data scientists, to understand data requirements and ensure the availability of high-quality data.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather and document data cataloguing needs.

Customer Insights: Leverage customer feedback, surveys, and research to understand user behavior, preferences, and pain points.

Competitive Analysis: Analyze competitors' products and strategies to identify opportunities for Oportun's product differentiation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams, including marketing, compliance, and operations, to align product strategies with business goals.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science).
  • 4+ years of experience working as a business/product analyst.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Knowledge of A/B testing and user experience (UX) principles is a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial products and services is a huge plus.
