Data Analyst II
Ophelia
About the Role
As a Data Analyst at Ophelia, you will be the bridge between our data warehouse and our decision-makers. You will be responsible for diving into data to derive insights, identify trends, and tell powerful stories that influence our clinical and business strategies.
You will collaborate across teams to identify data-driven opportunities that propel the business forward, delivering high-quality data work using an agile methodology. Your contributions will ultimately influence key company domains, including company-level KPIs, clinical, commercial, business operations, and more.
Our data team leverages a robust stack within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing BigQuery, dbt, Rudderstack, and Lightdash. We also leverage various AI tools to enhance our productivity and analytical capabilities, and we are looking for a teammate who shares our excitement for evolving our technical workflows. Data is deeply embedded in our corporate culture, with widespread adoption of data products and a significant potential for further evolution.
In this fully remote position, you will report to our Analytics Manager and serve as a peer to other analysts and analytics engineers as our team expands. You will work closely with the broader Technology Team to cultivate a culture of data-driven decision-making, ultimately enhancing patient care. You'll oversee analytics across diverse domains like clinical operations, payor partnerships, and company KPIs, translating complex data into actionable narratives.
Together, we are dedicated to helping individuals with opioid dependence. While experience in this specific treatment area isn't required, ideally, you will possess knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including an understanding of health outcomes, benchmarks, systems, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA).
Responsibilities
- Strategic Insights: Transform raw data into narratives that explain the "why" behind various business questions, providing the "so-what" recommendations that influence our clinical and operational strategies.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the dedicated data partner for departments like Commercial, Business Operations, and Clinical Operations, helping them define KPIs and track progress against goals.
- BI Ecosystem Management: Build and curate a BI ecosystem that allows teams to answer their own questions with confidence, reducing the time from question to insight.
- Ad-hoc Exploration: Use SQL and business context expertise to rapidly answer urgent business questions and conduct exploratory research into new clinical or operational trends.
- Ensure Data Trust: Partner with the technical team to bridge the gap between backend data models and frontend business needs, ensuring our reporting layer remains the "single source of truth."
- Fostering a Data Culture: Act as a subject matter expert for Ophelia’s data assets, teaching others how to interpret data and championing evidence-based decision-making.
Skills & Competencies
- Analytical & Statistical Rigor: 2–4 years of experience in data analytics with a deep understanding of statistics and probability. You know how to distinguish signal from noise and ensure recommendations are mathematically sound.
- SQL Mastery: Advanced proficiency in SQL is a must (2+ years of experience). You are comfortable joining complex tables, using window functions, and optimizing queries within a cloud warehouse environment like BigQuery.
- User-Centric Visualization: Expertise in designing high-impact dashboards with a focus on usability (2+ years of experience). You build intuitive visuals that empower a diverse set of stakeholders to navigate data and find their own answers.
- Modern Data Foundations: A basic understanding of dimensional modeling and how data is structured. You are comfortable with Git, and have the technical curiosity to utilize modern tools like VS Code or Cursor to make dbt adjustments. Dbt experience is preferred by not required.
- Analytical Versatility: You thrive in environments where data is often semi-structured and projects span a wide variety of business domains. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting between diverse topics.
- Proactive Project Ownership: A habit of objective thinking and continuous learning, with the proven ability to lead analytical projects independently while collaborating effectively across a remote team.
- Mission & Industry Alignment: A passion for making evidence-based addiction treatment accessible. Experience in a regulated industry (healthcare, fintech, etc.) is a plus.

- Compensation is dynamic at Ophelia: as long as the company performs well and meets our targets, there will be opportunities for increased compensation annually. We’re happy to discuss this approach and our bands if you have questions during the interview process.
