About the role:

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter - Business Auto to be the second underwriter on our new Business Auto team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to leverage their past underwriting experience to build something new and impactful in a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment!

As a Senior Underwriter you’ll partner with other stakeholders at Nirvana including Product / Engineering, Marketing and Insurance Product to define / iterate on our strategy and create the frameworks that will enable this new program to scale successfully.

You will be responsible for evaluating new and renewal commercial auto policies as our program grows and building a large, profitable book of business. You’ll also build relationships with agents to drive profitable pieces of business to Nirvana.

What you’ll do:

• Evaluate and price new and renewal business auto using underwriting best practices coupled with modern tools and insights

• Work with multiple accounts simultaneously in a fast paced environment

• Build relationships with key agency partners to achieve production and profitability goals

• Build processes, systems and frameworks to enable the Business Auto program to scale successfully

About you:

• 6+ years of underwriting experience with 2 years of business auto experience (namely contractors)

• Experience growing and maintaining a book of profitable business

• Strong problem-solver who isn’t afraid to make decisions and articulate their point of view

• Demonstrated ability to pivot and change course based on market feedback and business need

• Track record of thinking like an owner: identifying problems and finding / implementing solutions

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Insurance certification (CPCU, ARM, etc.) a plus
