About the Role

We’re looking for a Business Development Associate who is excited about a unique opportunity to help build modern commercial insurance from the ground up!

In this role, you will play a critical role in driving Nirvana’s growth by vetting new agency opportunities while managing and building relationships with small and middle market sized retail agency partners.

We’re a distributed team spread across the US and India, with offices in San Francisco, CA & Columbus, OH and New York, NY. For this role we’re open to candidates anywhere in the United States but preferably in the Eastern or Central time zones.

What You’ll Do

  • Prospect, identify and vet retail agency opportunities across the United States, especially in states that Nirvana is expanding to

  • Build relationships with agents, brokers and key decision makers at small and middle market sized retail agencies

  • Manage existing and new small and middle market sized retail agencies in order to extract in appetite new business opportunities for Nirvana

  • Develop and execute plans to achieve production goals and accelerate Nirvana’s growth

  • Help agents and insureds understand the value of our unique safety tools

  • Collaborate with product and underwriting to drive profitable growth

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to iterate on our product offering(s)

  • Travel as necessary to meet the responsibilities outlined above

About You

  • 2-3 years of experience in commercial insurance. Strong preference for experience in commercial auto and/or transportation

  • 1-2 years of field sales and/or program marketing experience

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Bias-to-action - you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and stretch yourself

  • Owner mentality - take accountability for your actions and results

  • Successfully able to work in high-growth and ambiguous start-up environments

  • Strong collaborator with team members based across the country and the world

  • Existing professional network among leading transportation agents / brokers is preferred

We set our salary ranges using compensation data from companies similar to our stage and size. For this role, the estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 + variable. The actual base salary will vary depending on multiple factors unique to each candidate, including location, job-related knowledge, transferable skills, work experience and our assessment of your level during the interview process.
