As a Solutions Engineer, you have an innate desire to develop solutions to customer problems in the application deployments space. You will be the technical interface for prospective customers and partners of Neon. This is an IC role with the potential to become a leadership role for our Solutions Engineering organization.

About Neon: Neon is a multi-cloud serverless Postgres service that is designed to make Postgres developers more productive in the cloud. We have separated compute and storage so they can scale independently. Neon is fully managed so all you need is connect to the database url and develop. This keeps costs low during development and makes it easy to deploy into production. Now add database branching, which means instantaneous copying of any database at any point in its life cycle, and you have a Postgres that is ready for modern development workflows.

We are a product led company with a generous free tier that serves a technical audience with transparency and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical solutions: Understand prospective customer and partner’s technical needs and architecture. Transparently communicate if and how Neon’s database as a service solution can address those needs.

Solution demonstrations: Create and deliver compelling product demonstrations (not presentations) to showcase the capabilities and benefits of our serveless postgres service. Be willing to learn new tools (for e.g. application development frameworks) to showcase how Neon fits in.

Requirements gathering: Collaborate with product development teams to provide prioritized feature requests from customer interactions to help shape the product roadmap.

You have

  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience with relational databases (Postgres/MySQL).
  • Hands-on experience with modern developer tools and services (for e.g., Node.js/Next.js, Prisma/Drizzle, Vercel/AWS/Azure, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success or strong interest in learning and solving technical issues through creation of proof of concepts (for e.g., a starter application with a particular technology, workflows to anonymize PII data, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success or an interest in customer facing interactions both online, and in person.
  • Strong technical communication skills, both in written docs and during demonstrations.
