The Role
We are a dynamic and innovative Series D tech company headquartered in the UK, committed to transforming how businesses and finance leverage technology and AI to drive performance. Our finance team propels the business forward to achieve ambitious growth goals. As the Commissions Analyst, you will be the core owner of the sales compensation process, ensuring the accurate, timely and compliant calculation and payment of commissions for our global sales team.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will manage the commissions system, drive continuous process improvement, and provide insightful performance analysis to Sales leadership and FP&A. This role offers a unique opportunity to own a critical, high-visibility process, drive automation initiatives using AI, and gain hands-on exposure to scaling a business as we prepare for IPO readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Commissions Calculation & Execution
Own the End-to-End Commissions Process: Manage the monthly and year end calculation, review, approve, and support the payment of commissions for our global sales organisation, ensuring adherence to all commission plans and policies. Implement AI initiatives to reduce the commissions cycle time.
System Management: Serve as the primary administrator for the commissions system (e.g. Spiff, or equivalent), including data integration, plan configuration, and reconciliation to payroll.
Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all commissions data inputs (sales bookings, attainment metrics, quotas) by reconciling data between the CRM (e.g., Salesforce) and the commissions system.
Query Resolution: Act as the main point of contact for the Sales team, providing timely and professional resolution to commission queries and compensation statement reviews.
Collaborate with FP&A and other teams within the business.
Reporting & Analysis
Monthly Accruals: Partner with the Financial Reporting team to prepare and validate monthly commission accruals in accordance with IFRS or UK GAAP.
Performance Insight: Produce monthly commissions dashboards and detailed reporting utilising AI for Sales leadership, Finance, and FP&A, providing insightful variance analysis on attainment, plan effectiveness, and payment trends.
Plan Modelling Support: Assist in the monthly and annual modelling and administration of new sales compensation plans, ensuring system readiness and accurate payout simulations.
AI-Enhanced Data Skills: Utilise AI features to perform advanced data analysis, flag input anomalies, and automate complex tasks to improve efficiencies.
Process Improvement & Controls
Automation: Actively identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for AI automation within the commissions cycle to reduce calculation time, minimise manual intervention, and enhance controls.
Documentation & Governance: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all commission plans, policies, procedures, and controls.
Audit Support: Support external audits (including IPO readiness) by preparing detailed commission schedules, supporting documentation, and demonstrating robust control procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrable experience in a Commissions Analyst or Sales Compensation role, ideally within a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
Systems Proficiency: Essential hands-on proficiency with a dedicated Sales Performance Management (SPM) system (e.g. Spiff or equivalent).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the financial and accounting treatment of sales commissions (e.g. IFRS 15).
Data Skills: Exceptional proficiency in data analysis using Excel / Google Sheets (pivot tables, complex formulas) and experience working with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce). Currently using AI to enhance efficiencies.
Proactive Mindset: Ability to work independently, manage a high volume of data, and prioritise tasks accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Competencies
Exceptional Attention to Detail: A non-negotiable requirement for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of commission payments and reporting.
Process Automation Focused: A strong interest in leveraging technology, AI and system capabilities to redesign and scale complex compensation processes.
