Our upskilling apprenticeships are designed for people of any age and career stage to build critical AI, data, and tech skills. Our learners have driven $2bn+ ROI for their employers, using the skills they’ve learned to improve productivity and measurable performance.
In June 2022, we announced a $220 million Series D funding round co-led by StepStone Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst. With a post-money valuation of $1.7bn, the round makes us the UK’s first EdTech unicorn.
But we aren’t stopping there. With a strong operational footprint and 800+ employees, we have ambitious plans to continue scaling. We’re building a world where tech skills unlock people’s potential and output.
Join Multiverse and power our mission to equip the workforce to win in the AI era.
The Role
We are looking for a highly analytical and strategic Corporate Development Lead to join our finance team. As we look to accelerate our growth, this high-visibility role is critical to identifying and evaluating the strategic opportunities that will help us scale, both domestically and internationally.
This is not a traditional M&A role. You will be a strategic partner to the business, responsible for market analysis, competitive intelligence, and evaluating a wide range of opportunities, from new market entry and strategic partnerships to potential tuck-in acquisitions.
You will report to the Senior Director of Commercial Finance, working closely with senior leaders across Product, GTM, and Operations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in financial modelling and strategic analysis (e.g., investment banking, management consulting, or a similar in-house role) and is adept at turning complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
What You'll Do
Market & Opportunity Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to identify and assess new growth opportunities, including new geographies, customer segments, and product adjacencies.
Competitive Intelligence: Monitor the competitive landscape and M&A activity, with a specific focus on the impact of AI and emerging technologies, analyzing competitor strategies and market trends to inform our own strategic direction.
Business Case Development: Build robust business cases and complex financial models to support strategic initiatives. This must include rigorous analysis of unit economics (e.g., LTV:CAC, payback periods), market sizing, ROI, and buy-vs-build scenarios.
Strategic Partnerships: Proactively identify and evaluate potential strategic partners that can accelerate our product roadmap or GTM strategy.
M&A Support: Screen and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities (e.g., acqui-hires, technology tuck-ins). You will support all stages of the deal-making process, from initial evaluation and due diligence to post-merger integration planning.
Executive-Level Reporting: Prepare compelling presentations and memoranda for the senior leadership team and C-suite, clearly articulating the "so what" behind your analysis and providing clear recommendations.
What You Bring
Experience Level: 4-7+ years of relevant experience, ideally from investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or an in-house corporate development/strategy role at a high-growth tech company.
Exceptional Financial Modeling: World-class financial modeling, valuation, and quantitative analysis skills. You are an expert in Excel and can build rigorous, flexible models from scratch, with a deep understanding of how to model for strong unit economics.
AI & Technology Acumen: You must be fluent in current technology trends, particularly Generative AI. This includes both:
(a) Using AI tools to accelerate your research and analysis.
(b) Strategically evaluating the impact of AI on market opportunities and the "moat" of potential acquisition targets.
Strategic & Analytical Mindset: A proven ability to take complex, ambiguous problems, structure a clear analytical framework, and draw actionable insights.
Compelling Storytelling & Communication: You must be a "storyteller" who can translate complex data into a clear and compelling narrative. You have excellent presentation skills and can confidently articulate your recommendations to an executive audience.
Proactive "Self-Starter": You are autonomous, curious, and highly proactive. You are comfortable managing multiple projects with tight deadlines and can navigate a fast-paced environment.
Stakeholder Management: A strong ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally with senior stakeholders across the business.
Bonus Points For
CFA, or ACA qualification.
Direct experience in the SaaS or B2B technology industry.
Hands-on experience with the full M&A lifecycle, including due diligence and integration.
