The Role
We’re looking for a FinOps Lead to own the bridge between Finance and Technology. You’ll set direction, translate business goals into scalable systems, and drive delivery across Finance, MIS, BI, PMO, and Product/Engineering.
- Experience: 10+ years across Finance Operations, Finance Systems, Accounting, or Finance Transformation, including experience in SaaS or tech; at least 2–3 years driving cross-functional programs.
- Systems: Strong understanding of ERP, CRM, billing, procurement, and analytics platforms, including how data flows between them.
- Finance depth: Strong understanding of quote-to-cash, procure-to-pay (P2P), and core accounting processes, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), billing, collections, accounts payable, and month-end closing. Ability to translate financial and accounting requirements into system logic.
- Data: Advanced Excel skills and ability to use SQL to investigate data, reconcile results across systems, and validate business logic.
- Execution: Proven record delivering cross-functional projects from requirements through implementation, with measurable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and control.
- Communication: Clear writer and presenter; comfortable with Finance stakeholders and deep-dive working sessions with technical teams.
- Documentation: Crafts precise requirements, workflows, field mappings, validation rules, acceptance criteria, and UAT scenarios.
- Collaboration: Strong partner to MIS/BI/Product/Engineering; can mediate priorities, resolve dependencies, and drive alignment.
- Detail + judgment: High accuracy, pragmatic about risk, and decisive under ambiguity. Able to investigate complex issues and assess their financial impact.
- Prior Finance Operations or Finance Systems experience in a high-growth, multi-entity SaaS environment.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, procurement platforms, and integration tools such as Workato.
- Experience with Snowflake or a similar data warehouse.
- Experience with SOX readiness/operations.
- Exposure to M&A systems integration and data migration.
- Translate business needs to systems: Understand Finance processes, identify gaps, and define testable requirements covering calculations, workflows, field mappings, approvals, validations, and exceptions, including accounting and downstream impacts.
- Lead delivery: Drive projects and enhancements end-to-end—requirements, solution design with technical teams, build coordination, UAT, rollout, and stabilization. Manage priorities and dependencies, and hold owners to dates and quality.
- Improve processes: Reduce manual work and defects across quote-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and month-end closing by automating calculations, reconciliations, approvals, and recurring tasks.
- Level-up financial systems: Partner with MIS/BI to improve connectivity across financial and operational platforms. Define how records and transactions are created, updated, and linked across systems.
- Validate financial results: Define and run UAT covering standard flows and exceptions. Reconcile outputs to source data and expected calculations, confirming that transactions and accounting treatment meet Finance requirements.
- Resolve process and automation issues: Investigate workflow issues with Finance and system owners, assess financial impact, and identify gaps in logic, data, or integrations. Define required corrections and coordinate and validate fixes with technical teams.
- Strengthen controls and reporting: Define controls, reconciliation checks, monitoring, alerts, and exception workflows. Partner with BI and system owners to specify reporting logic and data requirements, and validate report accuracy.
- Change management: Maintain process documentation, train Finance users, and support adoption and post-launch improvements.
- Scale for growth: Support M&A integrations, new products/pricing, usage models, partner arrangements, contract changes, and geographic expansion with resilient data and process design.
