🚀 We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone.

We’re waving goodbye to the complicated and confusing ways of traditional banking.

After starting as a prepaid card, our product offering has grown a lot in the last 10 years in the UK. As well as personal and business bank accounts, we offer joint accounts, accounts for 16-17 year olds, a free kids account and credit cards in the UK, with more exciting things to come beyond. Our UK customers can also save, invest and combine their pensions with us.

With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers!

We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo ❤️

We’re looking for a dynamic problem solver who thrives on building things from scratch!

⭐ Our Payments Collective

We exist to provide a platform for teams to launch banking products with confidence.

The Payments Collective helps to make Monzo's global ambitions a reality, enabling revenue and customer growth with a resilient, self-serve banking platform.

About the Role…

In this role you will help design, build and run Monzo’s European payments capabilities as we expand across Europe. You’ll be involved in setting up a multitude of partnerships, managing complex implementation projects, building operational processes that are fit to scale globally, and working closely with teams across the business to make Monzo’s global ambitions a success.

This is a dynamic role demanding significant context switching - perfect for a generalist who thrives on being thrown in the deep end. You could be researching our next markets, leading the supplier onboarding process, or building new back-office processes, all within the same week.

🔑 You’ll play a key role by…

  • Supporting partner selection and managing relationships with new partners and payment schemes.
  • Carrying our research into new markets, payment solutions, and potential partnerships.
  • Managing implementation projects with third parties: coordinating onboarding, contracting, and programme delivery.
  • Coordinating adherence processes for new payment schemes.
  • Partnering with engineering, product, and Ops teams to build, launch, and run new payment systems in Europe.
  • Building new back office processes to manage and scale EU payment systems.
  • Seeking out and prioritising issues to facilitate continuous improvement post-launch.
  • Establishing processes to manage performance for our partners and operations.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You have experience in fast moving companies such as fintech or consultancy
  • You’re had hands-on experience with European payment systems (SEPA, Bizum, IDEAL) - first hand experience in Ireland or Spain is a big plus
  • You’re a self starter, proactive, have a strong sense of ownership, and comfortable with ambiguity
  • You have experience managing relationships with a wide range of suppliers/3rd parties
  • You can build and scale complex operational systems
  • You have strong strategic reasoning; able to balance and prioritise short and long term tradeoffs
  • You’re comfortable getting into the details of technical systems and working with engineering teams
  • You love solving complex problems and have a track record of managing performance and SLAs
  • You are organised and have managed complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • You are analytical and make data driven decisions
  • You would be available to start in April if successful for the position

🙌 What’s in it for you

💰Up to £65,000 ➕share options.

📍We’d prefer this role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London)

⏰ We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, and at times that suit you and your team.

📚 £1,000 learning budget each year to use on books, training courses and conferences.

🏡 We will set you up to work from home; all employees are given Macbooks and for fully remote workers we will provide extra support for your work-from-home setup.

➕ Plus lots more! Read our full list of benefits.

🌈 The application journey has 3 key steps

  • Quick call with a Monzo Recruiter
  • 30 min video-call with the Hiring Manager
  • Full-Loop (1 x Technical interview with Task + 1 x Behavioural interview)

This process should take around 2-3 weeks - your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible!

We have some guidelines on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ace an application and interview at Monzo. You can read them here.
