About the role:

Modular is looking for strong software engineers to work on the next generation of AI framework. We are looking for candidates with strong teamwork skills who are passionate about building high quality APIs and solutions for ML practitioners. In this role you will write high level graph building APIs, and verify them on existing ML models and use cases. You will also develop interoperability solutions with various frameworks, and participate in the design of Modular’s internal stack.

LOCATION: Candidates based in the US or Canada are welcome to apply. You can work out of one of our offices in Seattle, WA, or remotely from home.

What you will do:

  • Build and test infrastructure for importing ML saved models, and for translating them to different formats.
  • Implement MLIR-based transformations for graph representations.
  • Develop user-facing ML development infrastructure, APIs and language extensions.
  • Collaborate with other teams to provide a robust, high quality and easy to use ML software stack.

What you bring to the table:

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience developing machine learning frameworks and APIs like PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, JAX, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of C++, Python, data structures and algorithms.
  • Good understanding of ML-specific representations like computation graphs.

Helpful but not required:

  • Experience with programming languages and compilers.
  • Experience with MLIR.
  • Good understanding of ML core concepts and common models.
  • Experience working with ML users.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related area.

The estimated base salary range for this role to be performed in the US, regardless of the state, is $157,500.00 - $253,000.00 USD. The salary for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors, which include but are not limited to education, training, work experience, business needs, or market demands. This range may be modified in the future. The total compensation for a candidate will also include annual target bonus, equity, and benefits, with equity making up a significant portion of your total compensation.

For candidates who fall outside of the listed requirements, we nevertheless encourage you to apply as we may have openings that are lower/higher level than the ones advertised.
