Software Engineering
New York, NY, USA
What you’ll work on
You’ll be treated as a full engineer, not a trainee. In this role, you will:
Ship production features across our Python backend and TypeScript frontend
Help build and optimize parts of our real-time rendering engine (WebGPU)
Work hands-on with AI-powered systems, including agents, experimentation, and evaluation pipelines
Build internal tools and infrastructure that dramatically increase team velocity
Take projects from idea → implementation → launch, with direct exposure to product decisions
You’ll rotate naturally across the stack as you grow, and can lean into the areas you’re strongest or most curious about.
Who we’re looking for
We’re optimizing for slope, not polish - but the slope should be steep.
You’ll likely be a strong fit if you:
Are a recent or soon-to-be graduate in Computer Science and have a strong foundation in programming in Python and/or Typescript
Have shipped production-grade software
Have built meaningful projects beyond assignments (startups, research, open source, hackathons, deep side projects)
Can orchestrate multiple coding agents at once
Are always trying new products and services, and have strong opinions about what you like and dislike
Learn new systems quickly and enjoy tackling problems without clear instructions, and care deeply about quality, craft, and impact
Bonus: You're interested in starting a company in the future (two of our founders were early engineers at startups before they started their own companies)
Growth path
We’re explicit about growth because we expect it.
First 3 months
Ramp up across the codebase and core systems
Ship multiple user-facing features
Own well-scoped projects end-to-end
6–12 months
Become a go-to contributor in at least one major area (frontend, backend, rendering, or AI systems)
Independently design and ship complex features
Influence technical and product decisions
Beyond
Grow into a senior-level engineer at startup speed
Take ownership of large systems or product areas
Option to mentor future hires or lead initiatives as the team grows
Why this is an exceptional place to start your career
Unmatched learning velocity
You’ll work directly with founders who built Dover (raised $23M) and Heap (valued at $960M, acquired). This is rare, high-leverage mentorship.
Early, real ownership
We stay intentionally small. Every engineer shapes the product and company direction, including new grads.
High bar, low ego
You’ll be surrounded by people who care deeply about excellence, move fast, and value good ideas over hierarchy.
Career-defining exposure
You’ll learn how elite startups actually get built: technical tradeoffs, product judgment, and execution under real constraints.
Speed & impact
You’ll ship more in days than most engineers ship in months and years.
