About Mercor

Mercor's mission is to organize human intelligence to power the AI economy. We partner with leading AI labs and enterprises to provide the human intelligence essential to AI development. Our vast talent network trains frontier AI models in the same way teachers teach students: by sharing knowledge, experience, and context that can't be captured in code alone. Today, more than 30,000 experts in our network collectively earn over $2 million a day.

Mercor is creating a new category of work where expertise powers AI advancement. Achieving this requires an ambitious, fast-paced and deeply committed team. You’ll work alongside researchers, operators, and AI companies at the forefront of shaping the systems that are redefining society. Mercor is a profitable Series C company valued at $10 billion. We work in-person five days a week in our San Francisco, NYC, or London offices.

About the Role

Mercor is bringing on our first dedicated Product Finance hire to serve as the financial brain trust for our engineering and product organization. You'll be the analytical partner to product and engineering leaders, owning rigorous financial analysis of the initiatives that shape Mercor's product roadmap and translating them into clear, decision-ready insights for our most senior stakeholders.

This is a foundational, high-leverage role. You won't inherit a playbook—you'll write it. You'll build the financial models, frameworks, and review cadences that define how Mercor evaluates product investments, prices new offerings, and allocates engineering capacity against the highest-ROI bets.

You'll work at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Finance, and Business Operations, with direct exposure to the decisions that drive Mercor's growth. If you like getting smart fast on ambiguous problems, building structured analyses where none existed, and seeing your recommendations move real dollars, this is the role.

You'll partner closely with product and engineering leadership, while collaborating with the Business Operations team on execution and rollout of the initiatives you help scope.

What You'll Do

  • Financial Modeling of Product Initiatives: Build rigorous, assumption-driven models for new product launches, pricing changes, platform investments, and engineering resourcing decisions. Translate product roadmaps into revenue, margin, and unit-economic forecasts that leadership can actually act on.

  • Strategic Decision Support: Serve as the go-to financial partner for product and engineering leaders. Pressure-test business cases, surface tradeoffs, and frame the financial implications of build-vs-buy, prioritization, and pricing decisions for the executive team.

  • Investment & ROI Analysis: Own the financial evaluation framework for major product and engineering investments. Define how Mercor measures success post-launch, build the analytics to track it, and close the loop on whether bets paid off.

  • Pricing & Unit Economics: Partner with product and engineering leaders to model pricing strategies, contract structures, and margin profiles across our customer base. Identify where unit economics are stretched and where there's room to capture more value.

  • Execution Support with Biz Ops: Partner with the Business Operations team to translate financial analysis into operational reality—scoping rollouts, defining metrics, and ensuring initiatives are instrumented for measurement from day one.

  • Reporting & Insight Generation: Build the dashboards and recurring reviews that give product and engineering leaders ongoing visibility into the financial health of their portfolios. Move the org from anecdote to evidence.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Finance, Product, Engineering, and Biz Ops to align on assumptions, methodologies, and forecasts. Be the connective tissue that ensures product strategy and financial strategy stay in lockstep.

What We're Looking For

  • 2-5 years of experience, ideally a mix of management consulting (MBB or comparable) and a product finance, strategic finance, or BizOps role at a high-growth tech company.

  • Exceptional financial modeling skills. You can build a clean, defensible model from a blank sheet and stress-test it against reality.

  • Strong analytical chops and comfort working with large datasets. SQL fluency strongly preferred; you should be able to pull and validate your own data rather than waiting in line for someone else's.

  • Sharp business judgment. You can see past the numbers to the strategic question being asked, and you know how to frame an answer for an executive audience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can turn a complex analysis into a one-page memo or a five-slide deck that drives a decision.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and a bias toward action. You don't wait for perfect inputs; you make defensible assumptions, flag them, and move.

  • A degree in a quantitative or analytical field (e.g., finance, economics, computer science, math, engineering) or equivalent demonstrated rigor.

  • Interest in and experience working with AI tools to accelerate analytical workflows.

  • Can-do attitude!

Bonus Points

  • Direct experience supporting a product or engineering org at a high-growth startup.

  • Exposure to AI, marketplace, or human-data business models.

  • Track record of building a finance or strategy function from scratch.
