As the Program Leader for our APOL1 program, you will be at the helm, driving the program vision, strategy, and execution forward. You will oversee resources, budgets and activities ensuring that the program deliverables stay on track as we work toward bringing this important therapy to patients. In this role, your leadership will be critical in making key decisions, collaborating with the program team and functional leaders, and integrating their input into the program’s development.
Reporting directly to our Chief Strategy and Business Officer, you’ll manage the APOL1 Project Manager and play a central role in steering the program towards its goals.
Your Impact:
- Develop and execute program strategy that aligns with our program vision, guiding cross-functional teams through milestones and decision points.
- Communicate a clear program strategy, ensuring alignment across all functions and its reflection in every step of execution.
- Lead one or more Program teams comprised of experts in clinical development, clinical operations, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs to deliver high-quality, compliant, and on-budget outcomes.
- Develop a compelling, forward-thinking strategy by leveraging prior knowledge and experience, and discernment of external stakeholders, internal team capabilities, and program needs.
- Prioritize and allocate resources effectively to meet program needs while ensuring rigorous adherence to quality and compliance.
- As the single point of accountability, drive key decisions and navigate them through appropriate governance channels.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant degree is required; a doctorate or other advanced degree is preferred, with 7-10+ years of experience in drug development. This should include leading Program Teams through late-stage development, and preferably through market access with clinical experience.
- Extensive experience in drug development, particularly in renal or related disease areas.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Strong understanding of clinical trials, regulatory processes, technical operations, market access, and commercialization.
- Direct experience with product registration and major health authority interactions with a preference for commercialization experience.
- A strategic, innovative thinker with a robust external network
- Willingness and ability to work onsite at our South San Francisco facility.

The expected annual salary range for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area is $276,000 - $338,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus. Maze performs position-based compensation benchmarking to industry market data to ensure we pay competitive wages. Determination of starting salary will depend upon a variety of job-related factors, which may include professional experience, skills, and job location. The expected salary range for this role may be modified in the future.
