Our high-growth organization is seeking an Assistant Controller who will lead the general ledger team and month-end close process, as well as work closely with our Director of Accounting & VP of Accounting to achieve company goals!

You love a challenge, and you are exceptional at ensuring the success of the monthly accounting close of the US entities.

As a highly visible leader to the organization, no two days will be the same for the Assistant Controller. You are an extremely detail-oriented individual who will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits. In addition to managing the monthly closing process, the Assistant Controller also will be streamlining processes and leading the initiative to produce a 5-day close.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee the monthly US financial close process, including ensuring all costs & expenses incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and analysis of the financial statements.
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies, procedures and controls and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Champion solutions to improve system efficiencies and business practices.
  • Interact at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely and accurate financial reports.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums as needed
  • Review material contracts for financial reporting and accounting treatment
  • Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
  • Participate and lead various ad-hoc projects to support the company’s annual goals.
  • Interface with tax and accounting firms as needed to navigate complex issues, drive timely audits, and ensure compliance.
  • Manage certain ERP enhancement projects to ensure accounting technical stack is advanced and cutting-edge.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the treasury function

What you’ll bring:

  • BA/BS/MS in Accounting
  • A passion for continued learning & development
  • CPA is required, public accounting experience preferred
  • Minimum 4+ years of management-level experience leading a team of accounting professionals
  • Demonstrated success in reviewing/managing a monthly close
  • Previous experience leading and mentoring high-performance senior accountants
  • Experience with purchase accounting and integration of acquired companies a plus
  • Ability to draft and update technical memos
  • Knowledge of GAAP –experience with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, ASC 842 Leases and ASC 350 pertaining to Internally Developed Software
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills required
  • Experience with analytical/reporting tools
  • Experience with reconciliation software
  • Experience using an enterprise level accounting system (Microsoft D365 a plus, and implementation experience also a plus)
