Job Overview
Mainspring Energy is seeking a talented Senior CAD Designer to join the Mechanical team responsible for the detailed design and drafting of the various components and assemblies for our innovative Linear Generator technology.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models (Solidworks) and 2D engineering drawings, including support for conceptualization and detailed design
- Apply GD&T and AWS Welding symbols, adhering to ANSI standards and best practices, to ensure manufacturability, quality, and high-volume production
- Review engineering drawings to ensure they meet best practices
- Support BOM generation and management, engineering change work
- Quickly iterate designs based on engineer feedback
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to enable quick vendor feedback, iteration on new form/fit/function design changes
- Support continuous improvement efforts of our CAD processes, maintaining complex CAD assemblies, adding off-the-shelf components to the CAD library
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree, or higher, in a technical, engineering or relevant field
- 5+ years as a professional CAD Designer/Drafter.
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment
Technical Skills
- Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawings (Solidworks preferred) and PDM/PLM Professional experience
- Familiarity with GD&T and able to select and apply appropriate Datums and tolerances
- Able to apply weld symbols per AWS standards
- Experience with Large Mechanical/Electromechanical Assemblies, Sheetmetal, Weldments, Machined Parts and FAI drawings in SolidWorks
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding, casting, forging), and ability to identify and resolve design for manufacturability issues
- Ability to perform a tolerance analysis on parts and assemblies is a plus

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
