About Luma AI
Luma's mission is to build multimodal AI to expand human imagination and capabilities. We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change.
Where You Come In:
This is a rare opportunity to be a foundational builder of people practices from the ground up across Luma's Go-to-Market (GTM) and Dream Lab teams. You will be the catalyst that supports our most dynamic organizations as they scale. This role is for a strategic partner and hands-on practitioner who will define how Luma enables its people.
What You'll Do:
- This is an opportunity to design and implement, not just maintain, critical people programs.
- Partner with GTM & Dream Lab Leaders, acting as a trusted advisor across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and our experimental Dream Lab.
- Coach managers on feedback, expectations, team dynamics, and leadership growth, supporting org design and team evolution as these groups scale.
- Design and implement HR programs with the Head of HR, defining "good performance" and introducing practical tools for goal setting, feedback, and growth conversations.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations, conducting investigations and recommending outcomes grounded in consistency, empathy, and sound judgment.
- Identify gaps and friction points across the employee lifecycle, partnering with HR Operations to design improvements and ensure people processes scale smoothly.
- Bring structure where it adds clarity and avoid it where it slows teams down, using data and feedback to proactively address risks and help Luma scale while preserving creativity, speed, and trust.
Who You Are:
- 6–10+ years in HRBP, People Partner, or Senior People Ops roles.
- Direct experience supporting GTM teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Success) in a high-growth tech or startup environment.
- A proven "builder" with a history of creating new systems and programs from scratch in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Solid understanding of U.S. employment law and HR best practices.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping others do the same.
What Sets You Apart (Bonus Points):
- Experience working with creative, experimental, or R&D-style teams.
- Strong coaching and influencing skills with leaders at all levels.
- High judgment and discretion in sensitive situations.
- Energized by creative and fast-moving teams.
- Communicate clearly, directly, and thoughtfully.
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $145,000 – $180,000 per year.
