Our mission is to build multimodal AI to expand human imagination and capabilities.
We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change.
Dream Machine is an early step to building that. Try it here https://dreammachine.luma.ai
Your Mission as One of Our First Product Managers
Why This Role Now, Bring Creative-Pro Expertise to Luma
As one of Luma’s first Product Managers dedicated to Dream Machine, you’ll own the roadmap for our flagship multimodal foundation-model creative platform. We’re continuing to move from research into product with zero existing PM function, so you’ll be the domain expert who accelerates us by bringing your deep knowledge of professional creative workflows and prior in-market consumer product launches. Your leadership will:
Seed Luma’s PM best practices around creative tools
Turn early traction into product-market fit for professional creators
Structure cross-functional teams to execute with speed and clarity
You’ll have high agency to define what delight looks like for creative professionals and translate that into shipped features. Massive equity upside and a chance to build at the frontier of AI.
What You’ll Create & Lead
Define and drive Dream Machine’s end-to-end product vision and roadmap, grounded in professional creator workflows
Validate what to build next by speaking directly with creative professionals, synthesizing those insights into actionable features
Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, design, research) to deliver polished creative tools under tight timelines
Assess project risks in a chaotic, fast-moving environment and bring clarity through structured milestones
Drive product-market fit for a consumer-grade, pro-capable creative platform via rapid iteration on usage and retention metrics
Act as the key communicator across stakeholders to align priorities and keep the train on track
Champion maker-style prototyping and hands-on UX craftsmanship to set the standard for delightful interactions
Influence the research agenda by marrying user insights with foundational model capabilities
Foster a culture of structured curiosity and problem-solving
What You’ll Bring
3+ years shipping consumer-facing creative or editing tools (web or mobile) aimed at professional creators.
Demonstrated expertise in professional photo and video workflows
Hands-on UI/UX chops, you can prototype flows, mock up micro-interactions, and drive pixel-level polish
Strong user research and feature-discovery skills, have run at least 20 interviews or usability studies and turned insights into roadmap pivots
Excellent risk assessment, prioritization, and project management skills in ambiguous environments
Track record of metrics-driven launches, setting up funnels and iterating activation or retention loops from day one
Proven ability to translate model or architecture trade-offs into product trade-offs alongside engineering and research
Exceptional cross-functional communication, especially with design and engineering
Comfort working in a high-agency environment where you own and define the PM function
Familiarity with multimodal AI or foundational models is a strong plus
