Summary of Position
As a Staff Software Engineer at Teladoc Health, you will lead the technical direction of the team, focusing on solving complex problems and driving scalable solutions. You’ll set the expectations for the architecture roadmap and define the north star for critical areas of the Teladoc consumer experience. This is a high-impact role where your leadership will shape the future of our platform during a time of rapid growth and innovation. You’ll collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality, distributed systems that empower millions to live healthier lives.
Essential Duties
- Architect and implement scalable distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Lead design and development of major software components and features.
- Debug production issues across services and layers of the stack.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Data Science, and Technical Operations.
- Will develop north-star architecture roadmaps.
- Mentor team members on design techniques, coding standards, and best practices.
- Improve engineering processes, tooling, and deployment pipelines.
- Drive innovation and execution across multiple teams.
- Drive efficiencies in SDLC leveraging AI and other technologies.
- Monitor and track platform performance to ensure response time and capacity metrics are within desired ranges.
- Utilize technologies including Ruby on Rails, React, Git, SQL, and various database systems.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and software trends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails.
- Experience with React.
- Experience with micro-frontends.
- Experience designing and optimizing relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, testing, and source control.
- Is passionate about leveraging AI to improve the efficiency of delivery and the experiences we deliver for our members.
- Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, event-driven architecture, and NoSQL databases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Active presence in the Open Source community or tech conferences.

The base salary range for this position is $150,000 – $180,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
