Summary of Position
As a Software Engineer II, you will engineer and support full stack software in a leading healthcare industry company, developing backend services and front end UI for our client & eligibility services. Ideal candidates will be methodical, thoughtful, and detail-oriented while developing software that manages sensitive, mission critical data using industry best practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must for working with teams from a variety of backgrounds. Come work alongside experts and use your Java, Node.js, React, and Rails skills to ensure data integrity and proper validation of complex and rich data models across business units in a distributed system, propagating data changes between systems and providing web applications for clients and members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and support Javascript front end applications such as React.
- Help maintain Rails-based software providing mission critical functionality to multiple business units.
- Implement data validation routines and integrity checks to ensure data quality.
- Implement designs with event sourcing and horizontal scaling to meet service availability needs with minimal cost.
- Write automated tests to ensure code remains high quality throughout its life cycle.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure as part of agile development practices.
- Assist in troubleshooting and debugging, including in support of sporadic production issues.
- Write Java code for Spring Boot backend services that integrate with existing and new backend services using technologies such as HTTP, Kafka, and database technologies.
Qualifications Expected
- Bachelor's degree in related area (Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related fields) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with a relational databases such as MySQL.
- 2+ years of experience writing backend or full stack software using APIs, messaging systems, databases, and automated testing (RoR or Python / React)
- Experience working on teams using CI/CD and agile methodologies.

- Ruby on Rails and/or Python

- Experience deploying in cloud environments such as Azure Cloud
- Document databases such as MongoDB
- Kafka and event sourced architectures
- Spring Framework
