Summary of Position
We are seeking a Senior Developer, People Systems Integrator, to join our People Process & Technology team and support the continued evolution of our Workday platform. This role will play a key part in developing and maintaining integrations that drive seamless exchange between Workday and internal/external systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical expertise in Workday integration tools and a passion for solving complex problems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The Senior Developer, People Systems Integrator is deeply involved in full lifecycle integration projects, including requirements gathering, technical design, development, testing, deployment, documentation and ongoing support. This individual serves as a technical point-of-contact for integration-related questions, issues, and enhancements, with a focus on Workday tools such as Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Web Services, and Report-as-a-Service (Raas).
What You Will Do:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of inbound and outbound Workday integrations using tools such as Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, XSLT, and REST/SOAP web services.
- Direct cross-functional collaboration with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance and IT to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable, compliant integration solutions.
- Provide day-to-day support for Workday integrations, including troubleshooting, monitoring, and root cause analysis of data issues or integration failures.
- Lead regression and user acceptance testing during Workday upgrades and semi-annual releases; assess the impact on existing integrations and implement necessary updates, partnering with our System Managers.
- Review and provide feedback on peer-developed integration designs and solutions to ensure alignment with best practices, performance and maintain standards.
- Own and maintain technical documentation for all integrations, including solution design, configuration details and support procedures.
- Direct integration project execution by managing multiple concurrent projects and ad-hoc requests with minimal supervision, balancing business priorities and technical complexity.
- Coordinate integration deployment activities with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless delivery with minimal disruption.
- Review, validate and assess impacts to existing integrations and recommend solutions.
- Serve as an internal consultant to business users and People Process & Technology team members on best practices in integration design, data transformation and Workday platform capabilities.
- Maintain awareness of Workday’s roadmap and upcoming features; identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements.
- Ensure integration solutions meet security, privacy and compliance requirements.
What You Will Need:
- 8 plus years of hands-on experience in Workday integration development.
- 8 plus years of experience in Workday integration technologies, including: Workday Studio, EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), Core Connectors, XSLT/XPath/XML, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST APIs)
- 8 plus years’ of Workday Report Writer experience required.
- 5 plus years of experience with JSON, custom complex reports, and data transformation techniques.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Workday integrations and advise on design decisions and solution architecture.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
- Use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions to issues that arise.
- Knowledge of requirement gathering techniques, project management, and HRIS systems development methodologies. Transfer functional and non-functional requirements into integration interfaces and implementations.
- Understands and uses qualitative/quantitative measurement and data collection design principles.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Critical thinker with exceptional ability to model business processes and identify and resolve gaps.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Enthusiasm for learning new technology and a love of process improvement and data; interest in driving administrative efficiency.
- Experience interpreting data and presenting information and findings.
- Ability to multi-task under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment; flexibility to respond to rapidly changing business needs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities for non-recurring and/or complex
- Provide consultation to senior management on highly complex financial issues; recommending best practices and new business approaches to improve efficiencies in policies and procedures.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Workday Integration Certification(s).
- Familiarity with Workday security model and reporting structures.
- Support broader HR People Process & Technology initiatives, including data migration, implementation projects and cross-functional automation.
- Experience in agile or iterative development methodologies.
- Knowledge of ticketing systems like Jira or ServiceNow.
